Spiritual direction
is classically a conversation in which one person helps another to discern the prompting of God, and to respond to it. Spiritual direction helps people tell their sacred stories everyday.

Europe is currently seeing a revival of this ministry.
The continent’s diverse cultural, religious and historical experiences provide a rich soil in which this ministry grows.

Our LOGO represents the grain of wheat.
We witness and accompany the process of trans-formation and new growth imaged by the development of the grain. The falling of the grains and their gradual re-emergence happens in a silent time and is unnoticed by many. The spiritual director is a perceptive and gentle support through these times. We are familiar with the reality of life that difficult times can also be moments of grace and opportunity.
The grains of wheat fall into the soil of our European countries. It is there that we live our moments of graced history.

Spiritual Directors in Europe is a not-for-profit organization, created in 2000, and seeks to encourage and support spiritual direction wherever it can:

* by organising each year a meeting in a different European country, attended by spiritual directors from all over Europe

* by facilitating the mutual support of, and cross-fertilisation between, spiritual directors across Europe

* by encouraging local supportive groups and networks
* by using its website www.sd-europe.org to publicise its activities and interact with interested persons
* by the effort to enable participation via modest bursaries

Spiritual Directors in Europe is committed to co-operation with other similar organizations and networks.
